May 2023 Staff Spotlight
Raina Muehlhausen
Administrative Assistant
Raina joined Hawthorne & Co. CPAs as an Administrative Assistant in April 2022. She knew Hawthorne & Co. CPAs would be a good fit for her during the interview process when she felt that she was greeted with kindness and got along well with the people she interviewed with.
Now, over a year into her career with us, her coworkers are still her favorite part of working here.
“Everyone is so genuine towards each other and always willing to help one another out. I love seeing the collaboration that happens, and that even in stressful times or around a deadline, everyone is still supporting each other and working as a team.”
As a young professional, Raina says the best advice she was given was to never be scared of a new opportunity and to always seek out knowledge. She adds that if you are scared of the “what ifs” you will miss out on a lot, so you should focus more on what the opportunity could bring.
Raina’s dream is to be an event planner and has been interested in it ever since childhood.
“All through my childhood I would invite all my family over to our house saying that we were having a party and would tell each person what they needed to bring, when to be there, and what the theme was. My mom would have no idea until an aunt or an uncle mentioned it, and they always thought she knew since I had everything so prepared. This was something that happened consistently throughout my childhood until parties were strictly something that everyone knew I was in charge of, from birthday parties, to Christmas, and even a small wedding for one of my aunts. Being an event planner would not be nearly as simple as family parties, but I would love to one day see my childhood dream through.”
Aside from planning events, Raina enjoys traveling and says she would travel all the time if she could. She wants to see and experience as much of the world as possible and thinks there is so much to learn and experience from other places.
Most recently, Raina traveled to Italy and France and made many amazing memories. Raina also loves hiking and baking in her free time, but her passion is to explore more of the world.

Something that many people don’t know about Raina is that despite her love for adventure and growing up on an island spending a lot of time on the water and on boats, she is actually afraid of the water. She says any time in the water, she is always wondering what could be swimming below her.
