Glen Harlow Retiring After 17 Years with Our Firm

It is with personal regret but warm wishes that we announce the retirement of Glen Harlow, whose last day with us will be June 26th, 2020. Glen has been a dear friend and extremely valuable and appreciated team member for the past 17 years. We would like to recognize Glen’s many years of service and friendship by choosing him to kick off our new Staff Spotlight series.

Glen Harlow, CPA

Manager Accountant

Glen Harlow joined Hawthorne & Co. CPAs in July 2003. When asked what brought him to Hawthorne & Co. CPAs, Glen said, “I wanted to join a small, public accounting firm that is dedicated to the fight against the monolithic, evil, power of the dark side and, specifically, the IRS.”

Glen says his favorite part of working at Hawthorne & Co. CPAs is the fulfillment he gets by helping people navigate a system that is obtuse, intimidating and illogical.

“Helping people and becoming friends along the way is the best part of working at Hawthorne & Co. CPAs. Our goal is always to minimize the tax liability and at the same time keep our clients out of jail.”

Every day, Glen starts the morning with the same thought: “It is great to be alive and working at Hawthorne & Company!” Though, he says the shine on that sterling thought may tarnish somewhat by the time he is fully awake and has dealt with the questions of staff accountants.

Now, after 17 years at Hawthorne & Co. CPAs, Glen says it is time for him to figure out what he is going to do for the next 15-20 years.

“I hesitate to say I am “retiring” but people can call it that if they like. Friday, June 26th will be my last day at Hawthorne & Co. CPAs. It has been a pleasure, as well as a privilege and honor, to work with the Hawthorne team and to earn the trust and friendship of our clients. I bid you a fond farewell with the hopes that our paths may cross again.”

Though he may be retiring, he is sure to leave a lasting impact on our firm, our clients and our team, and he will be greatly missed. Please join us in wishing Glen all the best on the next part of his journey.

Glen, may you find success and happiness in all that you choose to take on next. It has truly been a pleasure having you as a member of the Hawthorne & Co. CPAs team! Go Cougs!
